Faculty, staff, matriculated and non-matriculated students, and alumni have full borrowing privileges at the YCCC Library. York County community members over the age of 16 may obtain a YCCC library card with photo identification and proof of residence. Community patrons have limited borrowing privileges.
Loan Periods
| Books, Videos, DVDs, CDs, and Audio tapes: |
Books, videos, DVDs, CDs, and audiotapes may be checked out for three weeks. Faculty may check out books for the entire semester, subject to recall as needed. |
| Course Reserves: |
Reserve materials may be checked out for two hours, for use on campus only. Some reserve items may be restricted to In-Library Use Only. |
| Periodicals: |
Current issues of magazines and newspapers do not circulate. Back issues of magazines circulate for seven days. |
| Reference: |
Material in the Reference Collection does not circulate. |
Renewals:
Checked-out material may be renewed once, in person, by phone, or via My Library Account on the Library web site. A second renewal may be granted at the discretion of the librarian, but material must be brought to the library for processing.
Borrowing Limits
There is no limit to the number of items that matriculated and non-matriculated students, faculty, staff and alumni may check out. Community patrons are limited to a total of four checked-out items.
Overdue Fees:
The YCCC Library does not charge overdue fees.
Late Notices:
The 1st late notice will be sent out when an item is one week overdue.
The 2nd late notice will be sent out when an item is two weeks overdue.
The 3rd late notice will be a bill for lost material and will be sent out when an item is three weeks overdue.
Suspension of Borrowing Privileges:
Patrons with excessive overdue or lost material charges will have their borrowing privileges suspended until their library account has been cleared. In addition, students owing overdue fees or lost materials charges at the end of the semester will not be allowed to register for new classes, receive their grades, transcripts, or diplomas until their library account has been cleared.

Lost Materials:
Patron will be billed for the replacement cost of lost materials, plus a $10.00 processingfee. Unpaid library bills will be referred to the Business Department for collection.

Interlibrary loan and patron requesting services are available at no charge to matriculated and non-matriculated students, faculty, staff and alumni. Community patrons are referred to their public libraries for these services.
Interlibrary loan requests must be accompanied by an Interlibrary Loan Request Form. Patrons should allow two weeks for delivery of material. Interlibrary loan requests are limited to 5 at one time.
Patron requests may be initiated from the Minerva online catalog. A valid patron ID number is required. Limits to the number of items a YCCC patron may request are governed by the lending libraries. The YCCC Library limits outgoing material to 5 items per patron.
Interlibrary loan and patron requests will be placed on the Library’s Hold Shelf for patron pick-up. All material “on hold” must be picked up within 5 days. After 5 days, unclaimed items will be returned to the lending library.
Interlibrary loan and patron requested materials are both subject to the overdue and lost material policies of the lending library.

YCCC's librarians are happy to sit down with you and teach you how to find what you're looking for - step-by-step, at your own pace, no-stress instruction. Available to all library patrons including students, faculty, and staff.
Schedule a library instruction session for your class. Give your students the skills they need to complete their research assignments successfully. Faculty or staff may request instruction sessions, additional orientations, or one-on-one assistance by contacting Library staff. It is helpful if you contact us two weeks before the date you want to hold an instruction session.

Open Computer Labs
Over thirty computer workstations are located in the Library's open lab areas, providing access to office and programming software, computer-aided drafting & design applications, the Internet and the Library’s online catalog. (Review the Acceptable Use Policy which guides all use of YCCC systems).
Group Study Rooms
The Library has four group study rooms which can be booked throughout the semester for group work. Contact the Library if you would like to reserve a room
Other library services include photocopying, faxing and scanning services, basic computer workstation and software assistance, video and audio equipment for in-library viewing and listening
