Scholarship Application Frequently Asked Questions

Who may apply? Any student who will be enrolled at YCCC for at least 3 credits during the Fall 08 and Spring 09 semesters. Selection is based upon grade point average, leadership experiences, application essay and financial need.

How to apply? Complete the YCCC Foundation Scholarship Application below.
Make sure that all sections are complete especially the Essay portion, Incomplete applications will not be considered.

What is the deadline? The deadline is Friday, July 11, 2008. 
Applications received after the priority deadlines will be considered only if remaining scholarship funds are available after these deadlines.

What is the amount of a scholarship? Amounts vary according to the interests of the scholarship donors. The scholarships range from $100-$500 and are based on the total number of applicants and total funds available.  Scholarships awarded to Nursing students are provided for YCCC courses only. All scholarships are reported to the YCCC Financial Aid Office.

What is the YCCC Foundation? The YCCC Foundation was established in 1995 as a private, nonprofit corporation to support the students and faculty of the college through gifts from alumni, faculty and staff, corporations, foundations and other friends of YCCC. The Foundation has distributed more than $137,000 in financial assistance to nearly 450 students.

Section 2: Short Essay

The essay portion of the scholarship application is your opportunity to tell us who you are; both your career goals and the obstacles you face in achieving those goals. Limit your response to 200 words.

Tell your "story" in clear, simple terms.  Think about what you want the committee to know about you.

You may wish to have an advisor, faculty member or friend proof read your essay.
